Our Managing Director Katharina David joins the Board of Directors for the German Solar Industry Association (Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft)

08 February 2023 Updates: Company

After more than 10 years of membership in the German Solar Industry Association, Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft, we have decided to increase our support by having our co-managing director, Katharina David, directly join the board. In December 2022, she was elected by a very large majority. Katharina David is the first woman to join the 13-member board.

Association Managing Director Carsten Körnig is very pleased about this addition to the board: ‘We are very pleased to have won Katharina David as a successful manager and profound industry expert for the federal association, who has excellent networks in the solar and construction industries.’

The industry association represents the interests of around 1,000 solar companies and sees itself as a “pilot” for an accelerated energy transition in Germany. In view of the necessities of climate protection, a continuing fossil energy crisis and the otherwise threatening generation gap for electricity and heat, the expansion of renewable energies must now be urgently accelerated and orchestrated. To this end, all obstacles to expansion and market barriers in the field of photovoltaics must be removed and the enormous potential of solar technology must be fully exploited. The goal is a full supply of renewable energies in the electricity and heat sectors. Last year, the association welcomed 220 more companies as new members. The potential for photovoltaics is enormous and is only rudimentarily recognised, especially in the area of commercial and industrial roofs.

‘With our mounting systems, we at K2 Systems play a crucial role as the interface between buildings and energy generation. That is why I want to champion this important area of photovoltaics within the association. True to our motto ‘Connecting Strength’, we want to  combine strengths to ensure continued positive momentum in the industry,’ said Katharina David after her election. She has already gained six years of experience in the extended board of directors of the regional association Solar Clusters Baden-Württemberg, which also acts as a bridge between business and politics.
