First shipment from Germany arrived at the new K2 warehouse in Irún on August 10. Just two days later, on August 12, the first project delivery left the site. With this, K2 Systems enters a new phase on the Iberian Peninsula.
This is a strategic move. The market is growing, and in photovoltaic projects speed, availability and flexibility matter more and more. The new warehouse specifically strengthens K2 Systems’ ability to deliver.
Irún is the main land gateway between Spain and France. Strong logistics infrastructure and specialized carriers ensure short routes across Europe and into the regions of the peninsula. From here, K2 Systems serves the Cantabrian coast, one of its key markets in Spain, particularly efficiently. Regular routes also lead to Madrid, Lisbon and Porto. Depending on destination and order, delivery within 24 to 48 hours is possible. Choosing Irún is about more than geography. K2 Systems moves closer to where projects take shape, and closer to the people who build them.
Utility-scale plants, commercial self-consumption and storage solutions are driving the photovoltaic market in Spain and Portugal. Projects are spreading across more and more regions, which makes the supply chain increasingly important. Distributors, EPCs and installers want to optimize their inventories and need suppliers who can match any project size.
The Irún warehouse provides a clear foundation for this:
It also adds room to maneuver. Whether it is short-notice demand, a stock shortage or an urgent project delivery, having product nearby means faster response.
Nothing changes in the ordering process. K2 Systems continues to coordinate every request internally and chooses the most economical and efficient route to the customer or project. What is new is the speed of response. Proximity helps tailor each delivery precisely to the size and type of project, from single-family homes to industrial installations. In an industry where deadlines, availability and coordination are decisive, this is a real advantage.
Placing inventory wisely, shortening routes, avoiding unnecessary transport: this makes the supply chain more efficient and reduces the environmental impact of distribution. For K2 Systems, sustainability is not an add-on but the result of better logistics decisions.
