Measuringset Coefficient of friction

Determination of the friction between roof skin and building protection mat of the PV mounting system

Things to know about the coefficient of friction

The positional safety of a penetration-free mounting system on flat roofs is achieved through the dead weight, module weight and additional ballast. The prerequisite for installation is therefore that the building has sufficient load-bearing reserves and that the roof structure is suitable.

A significant influence on the positional safety of this type of construction is the interaction between the roof cladding and the building protection mat, as well as between the mounting system and the building protection mat, which are described by a coefficient of static friction or coefficient of friction. The coefficient of friction flows 1:1 into the static calculation. It is therefore necessary to determine or verify the coefficient of friction on site.

Solution

Test set: Determination of friction coefficient

Test weight, spring tension scale and test pieces of building protection mat or Mat S. This tool can be used to determine the value on bitumen, foil, concrete, gravel and green roofs.
