K2 Systems Spain joins two key associations in the PV sector: UNEF (Unión Española Fotovoltaica) and APPA (Asociación de Empresas de Energías Renovables).

09 October 2024 Updates: Company

We are proud to announce our recent membership in the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) and the Association of Renewable Energy Companies (APPA).  Just a few months after opening our new office in Valencia, we are thus underpinning our commitment to the Spanish photovoltaic sector.

As the main association of the solar photovoltaic sector in Spain, UNEF brings together more than 790 member companies and represents more than 90% of the sector’s activity in the country with an installed capacity of 25.06 GW. “Our membership in UNEF gives us access to a powerful networking channel, market knowledge and representation of interests at a national level” affirms Miguel Giménez Castillo, Country Manager of K2 Spain and Portugal.

UNEF’s main objective is to represent and promote the solar photovoltaic sector at national and international level. Its focus is on developing a sustainable and efficient energy model, based on self-consumption with net balance and distributed generation. In addition, UNEF works to ensure regulatory stability and legal certainty in the sector. Miguel Giménez Castillo emphasizes: “Through the collaboration with UNEF, we will continue to promote the adoption of photovoltaic technologies and actively participate in building a more sustainable future”.

To further intensify K2 Systems’ commitment to the Spanish photovoltaic industry, the Company Management has decided to also join the Association of Renewable Energy Companies (APPA Renovables), which also plays an important role, bringing together companies and entities dedicated to the use of renewable energy sources: in 2023, 1,943 MW of photovoltaic self-consumption were installed in Spain, reaching a total of 7,154 MW.

APPA focuses on protecting the interests of the renewable energy sector, representing its members in national, European, and international organizations. It also strives to raise public awareness of the benefits of power generation from clean sources, as a fundamental part of the evolution towards a sustainable energy system for both the environment and the economy

Go to APPA

We are excited about this new step in our renewable energy journey and look forward to continuing to grow with UNEF and APPA. By joining these two important associations, we strengthen our position as advocates of the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy system” – says Miguel Giménez Castillo, and continues: “As a company, we are committed to protecting the environment and combating climate change. For 20 years, K2 has been working to lead the energy transition prioritizing recycled materials and sourcing mainly in the EU to reduce environmental impact. We are very pleased that this membership in UNEF and APPA reinforces our determination to contribute to the development of cleaner and more efficient energy solutions”.
