A powerful duo for Central Southeastern Europe

21 January 2025 Updates: Company

The team is growing

Central Southeastern Europe is considered a growth region with significant potential. It’s great news that K2 Systems has been able to strengthen its team for Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Slovenia with the highest growth rates

In 2023, Slovenia surpassed the gigawatt threshold and boasted the highest growth rates in per capita installed PV capacity across Europe. According to the latest EU Market Outlook by SolarPower Europe, the country ranks among the “Top 10 countries” with the highest per capita solar capacities.

The PV professionals in the country, part of the “Green Belt of Europe,” also have reason to celebrate: K2 Systems has recently brought on board Tomaz Flego, an expert with a big heart for renewables.

Tomaz Flego resides near the capital, Ljubljana, and is proficient in four languages: Slovenian, Serbo-Croatian, Italian, and English. As a trained electrical engineer, he has seven years of experience with an EPC in solar thermal and PV. He also benefits from the expertise gained at one of Slovenia’s largest steel and aluminum suppliers, as well as with one of the leading suppliers of electronic components. This background, combined with 15 years of sales experience, makes him an ideal Area Sales Manager for South East Europe. Tomaz is full of enthusiasm: “Renewable energies were my first love, and I’m thrilled to be able to focus on them professionally again. I’m looking forward to the new challenges in the target countries, including key markets with strong growth.”

Czech Republic and Slovakia: PV is gaining momentum here

In 2023, the Czech Republic nearly rejoined the “Gigawatt Club” after 12 years, with total installed PV capacity reaching 3.5 GW. This represents a more than 200 percent increase in the Czech solar market compared to 2022. In 2024, there was a notable increase in demand, especially for B2B projects. The solar market in Slovakia has also picked up, although the country still lags behind the EU average in terms of total installed capacity.

Katerina Gregorova is actively working as an Area Sales Manager in both countries, supporting Country Sales Manager Alessandro Lorefice. Hailing from Brno, the second-largest city in the Czech Republic, this dynamic woman has been in the PV industry for two years but has over 20 years of sales experience in various fields. She is already familiar with K2 Systems through her work for a PV wholesaler in the Czech Republic. The decision to focus on sales at K2 Systems was an easy one for her: “For me, renewable energies are the future, and I already know the company as a customer, so I can easily relate to my future contacts!”

Both K2nians bring ample expertise, empathy, and enthusiasm. A warm welcome to the new K2nians!
