K2 Carport System at Atlas Copco

Neustadt an der Donau, Germany

At Atlas Copco’s Electronics Competence Center in Neustadt an der Donau, Germany, sustainability is more than just a buzzword – it’s a lived reality. To power its own operations and prepare for the future of e-mobility, the company chose the K2 Carport System.

Fast, flexible, well thought-out: From commissioning in spring to completion in summer 2024, only a few weeks passed. This pace was made possible by close coordination among all parties – and by a system that adapts perfectly to local conditions.

Less material, more space: Initially, three supports per parking space were planned. After a smart redesign by K2 engineers, one support now serves two parking spaces. This saves material and creates more room to maneuver. The wider-than-standard parking spaces were no issue either: the purlins were custom-fitted. Cantilever arms were deliberately omitted to keep maneuvering areas clear for larger vehicles.

The structure, built in a hot-dip galvanized standard design with an integrated gutter, ensures durability and controlled water drainage.

Thinking ahead: “Our goal was to generate green electricity for our own consumption while laying the foundation for gradually electrifying our vehicle fleet. That’s why we had all foundations prepared for potential charging points, even though not all spaces were immediately equipped with charging stations,” explains Thomas Rieger, General Manager at Atlas Copco in Neustadt.
