Family becomes more independent thanks to the PV system

‘The residential building was already a passive house when the project began. This means that the nature of the building envelope stores the heat inside the building and thus requires little additional heating. Our plan was that by installing the photovoltaic system, the family would be able to generate their own electricity and thus become even more independent of their energy supplier,’ says Kim Schneck, Project Manager Energy Systems, HUMMEL System house.

HUMMEL System house was founded 25 years ago as a traditional electrical installation company. From 2004, HUMMEL entered the future market of data and network technology via the telecommunications sector. With innovative projects in the areas of building automation, e-mobility and solar energy, the transition from a craftsman’s business to a modern system house with a committed team of around 80 employees and a strong sense of the environment and responsibility took place.

Step by step to the finished PV system

After looking at the assembly plan from Base, the fitter attaches the roof hook and the mounting rail. Then the modules are prepared and fixed with the help of the module clamp.

1. Tin dormers

With the S-5! sheet metal seam clamp and the universal clamp OneMid, the solar modules are installed with the help of a cross-connection of the SolidRail UltraLight 32 and the SingleRail 36. The cross-bracing is necessary because the modules can only be clamped on the long side and the modules have been arranged horizontally.

2. Roof with pan tiles

The SingleRail 36 mounting rail and the CrossHook 3S roof hook are used on the tiled roof. The solar modules are fastened with the OneMid or OneEnd universal clamp, which are anodised black at the customer’s request.

Modular principle: same modular clamps and same mounting rail

‘This project demonstrates the proven modular principle of K2 Systems, which enables simple, cost-effective and fast installation. Despite the different covering of tiles and sheet metal dormers, the same mounting rails and the same modular clamps are used. The reliable CrossHook 3S roof hook has been used for the pantiles and the sheet metal seam clamp for the sheet metal dormers,’ says Stephan Klopfer, project manager K2 Systems.

Thanks to the compatibility, different applications can be realised with relatively little effort and extremely quickly with just a few basic components (e.g. universal clamp OneMid and rail SingleRail/SolidRail) and a matching roof fastener. Overall, fewer different materials are needed on the construction site and in the warehouse, resulting in lower costs for transport and storage. Likewise, the employees during assembly are more experienced in setting up and thus faster in designing a system.
