And the winners are...

Not one, but two teams were able to celebrate victory in the “K2 Eco Warriors Battle.” Due to the many exciting projects submitted, the jury had a hard time deciding, so CEOs Katharina David and Willem Haag ultimately crowned two winners at the Christmas party: the winning teams “Connecting Style” and “K2 Crowns”.

The goal of the internal competition was to raise awareness of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) issues and positively impact the cross-departmental cohesion of the K2nians. “With the ‘K2 Eco Warriors Battle,’ we wanted not only to advance our sustainability goals but also to foster the team spirit and creativity of the K2nians. The multitude of committed projects and the great ideas that emerged from them have inspired us and shown that we can achieve a lot together,” said Katharina David.

The competition, which started in September, offered all K2 employees the opportunity to develop and implement sustainable projects in small groups. The teams had to consist of at least three people from different departments and submit ideas that have a positive impact on the environment, society, or corporate governance. For example, the “K2 Crowns” collected bottle caps and donated the proceeds from the scrap value of the metal to “Kronenkinder Tübingen,” an association supporting children with cancer. The second winning team, “Connecting Style,” organized a clothing swap party under the motto “picK2reuse,” where leftover clothes were donated to a social institution.

In addition, the K2nians gathered so many ideas that an “idea exchange” was even announced. Previously uninvolved employees could thus take on the implementation of a remaining project idea.

At the award ceremony, Willem Haag emphasized that the “K2 Eco Warriors Battle” impressively demonstrated how companies can initiate sustainable changes through creative and collaborative initiatives: “We are incredibly proud of the commitment and creativity of our teams. The competition has impressively demonstrated the K2 Spirit and shown that even small measures can set great impulses.” The plan is to continue the battle in the coming years and further advance the projects that have been created.
